I have spent the past few hours researching issues with Mambo 4.5.2.1 installation. These problems occur whether you use Fantastico to do the installation or do it manually via FTP. There is a MAJOR bug in how Mambo is handling permissions on file and directory creation which effectively causes tons of error messages every time you attempt to upload a template, component or module. At this point there is no easy fix WE can perform. If you are not quite technically adept and understand file ownership and permissions, until Mambo fixes this problem it is NOT advised that you either upgrade to 4.5.2.1 OR do a new installation of it. We do not have the technical staff resources to provide you with support for problems that occur due to this issue with Mambo. So proceed at your own risk - and ALWAYS backup your database AND directory files before attempting an upgrade. You may try the following sites for information and assistance with this issue http://help.mamboserver.comhttp://forums.mamboserver.comhttp://www.mambers.comPeace Wolf

We have implemented one of the recommended work arounds and done a test install using Fantastico.
It appears to be working, but if you have recently installed Mambo and can do so without losing a lot of work, i strongly recommend that you uninstall it and reinstall from scratch.

Mambo may be installed on the root of your domain by removing/renaming the existing "images" folder. I removed the line that said "images" from the fantastico_fileslist.txt file. I think this will prevent Fantastico from removing the images folder IF I choose to remove Mambo. So far, I am very impressed with it.
