OnMouseOver Menu help

I wish to add an ONMOUSEOVER menu to the left side of my store...do I need to modify the COLUMN-LEFT.PHP or the INDEX.PHP file found in the main directory...how does it start and end? Are there opening and closing PHP characters I ned to add?  I keep getting a PARSE error...example...I left off the onmouseover command lines

There are menu contributions available and you would probably get information on integrating them by going to www.oscommerce.com forums.  (this is assuming you are using OSC, since you dont really say so in your post)
