configuration.php settings
« on: June 21, 2005, 07:59:37 PM »

I installed my site using fantasmo (sp).  I understand that installing in this manner results in an initial global configuration setting of "unwritable".  I went into CPanel/file manager and checked the configuation.php settings.  They were set to 644 which indicates "writable".  I approached it from a different angle by going through FTP Pro.  It also showed the configuration to be 644.  However, the global configuation in my MAMBO panel is still "unwritable"  What did I miss?

You need to have your settings as writeable by group and public as well for mambo to write to it.

The settings 644 do not make the file writeable for anyone but 'owner'.  Since Mambo is not 'owner' when it attempts to write to the files it can not write to the file.  You need to make config.php writeable for group and public as well.  You can always change it back when you are not actively doing things in the admin panel that require write permissions turned on.
