Another road block. While in Section Manager, attempts to add a new section result in a page error. Steps taken: Click on New//Fill in Title and Section Name//Click on Save..It is at this point a page eroor mesage appears at the lower left of the window. Sorry to be a bother, but the tutorial just isn't hacking it. HELP!

If you tell us exactly what you did and what the error is hopefully we can help.

Ok, first of all, the tutorial for the Section Manager is apparently based on a previous release as the display on the tutorial doesn't match my display in version 4.5.2. The tutorial says to click on "NEW", add a TITLE and SECTION NAME, etc. At the end, the commentator clicks on a PUBLISH icon (at the bottom of the page) and then clicks on SAVE. On my screen once you click on NEW, the screen with PUBLISH on it dissappears and there is no PUBLISH icon at the same location as depicted on the tutorial. Thus, when I click on NEW and add the TITLE and SECTION NAME, my only options are APPLY and SAVE. Clicking on APPLY and the SAVE doesn't result in creation of a new section and a message at the lower left of the screen indicates "page error"

Also...I am unable to edit an existing section. Also, the Section Manager "help" screen is blank. The global HELP in Section Manager is outdated and does not even discuss what the "APPLY" icon is for.
Someone please give me a "blow by blow" on how to create a new section and edit an existing section in this latest mambo version.

Are you using IE or Firefox? Try using IE. If you are looking for explicit steps for creating a new section in Mambo, your best bet is to go to www.mambers.com forum. Everyone there uses Mambo on a daily basis. And it seems that most of our users who are deep into Mambo haven't replied to your questions. Have you looked in our 3rd Party Application directory and gone to the Mambo links in there? peace Wolf

I'm using IE I went to the Mambers.com site and posted my problem. Had numerous viewers but no one stepped up to the plate to offer assistance. Certainly, there must be some member of this forum, or a knowledgeable moderatior who can determine if my program has a bug. Let me go through this once more. In Mambo Administration (v 4.5.2) I go to Section Manager and do the following: 1. NEW (click on) 2. Category Title (fill in) 3. Category Name (fill in) 4. ? What is step 4? In the tutorial, the guy clicks on a publish icon at the bottom of the page and then "save". In 4.5.2. there is no "publish" icon on the page (like is shown in the tutorial) and there are only the following menu items at the top of the page SAVE/APPLY/CANCEL/HELP Clicking on any of those (apply/save) results in a javascript page error. PLEASE HELP!

It sounds like you have a security issue with your browser. Do you have stict controls on javascript configured in it?
Either that or you changed something you should not have in the way of permissions on files after you installed Mambo. I just checked one of the mambo sites i manage which is 4.5.2.1 and added a test section with no problems. I put in the title, section name and hit save. It published just fine without error messages.
