Category(s): cannot be removed as they contain records

What does this mean and how can i resolve it in order to delete categproroes and sections?

You have to delete or move the sections and articles that are under the category before you can remove them.

As a point of clarification, just sending the content to the trash won't work.  To eliminate the category the records should be moved to another category or completely removed from the Mambo database by first sending them to trash and then deleting them through the trash manager.
