Beginning in September, Google started running another set of new algorithms. Results have started to show up in the past two weeks and let me tell you, the entire SEO and webmaster community is abuzz!
No one is sure exactly what is going on, and a blog published by a Google staff member has said there will be 3 sets of corrections for this dance, but many sites have lost significant SERP & PR, and many others,
http://www.webs4christ.com, included, have been TOTALLY DROPPED by Google!
Needless to say our team is scrambling to stay on top of what is going on and when the corrections will hit - Webs 4 Christ went from being ranked 9th for its highest targeted search phrase in Google to ranked 39th, to dropped completely. I am suspecting it may have something to do with our deciding to submit to Google using their sitemap tool - we've never submitted to any of the major SEs before, and 4 days after Google acknowledged and trolled our sitemap file our ranking slipped.
