today a new user signed up, was auto-verified, and sent out private messages to about 15 users of the forums. This message was offensive in nature and as soon as we learned of it we banned him & shut down sending of any more.
Please understand that at no time did this person get access to your email address - all they saw was the user list. The forum software itself forwarded the private message to your email address.
To prevent this happening in the future, any user designated 'newbie' can not send private messages. If you are a paying customer of AlphaOne Technology and your account here is designated 'newbie', please contact customer care to have this upgraded for you.
Peace Wolf

Yup, I was one of them. The user is Harrison Ford ... at least that's the name he used to signed up. If you receive a personal message e-mail from him, it's best to just delete it. Or else you'll be in for an eye-full.
I'm glad he didn't have way to retrieve our e-mails ... that could have been a mess. Blessings ....

I also got one. What a CREEP. Deleted it. I sure am glad the Wolf doesn't stand for this kind of stuff.
Thanks Wolf

Ladies & gentlemen, I truly do apologize for this. Even I was not aware someone could easily send multiple private messages in here. :-(
I hated having to turn off private messaging because everyone who signs up starts out as a newbie - and that includes our customers unless they ask us to change their record manually. PMs are great for carrying on discussions off list based on a message thread or asking someone privately for assistance or suggestions.
As responses are trickling in, it seems this dude hit up close to 30 of our 200 or so members. I am sure the jerk is lurking around reading responses - that is usually why people do this kind of thing. They are attention starved and very sad, lonely people. All we can do is pray for them and tighten things down so they can't engage in their attention-seeking behavior here and go elsewhere.
peace
